DEVOAD is the Delaware chapter of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) and is a non-profit support organization that fosters connections and collaborations amongst Disaster Relief organizations in order to equip and support them in their everyday missions. Why? Because we believe that this builds a stronger, more effective response for Delaware communities in the face of disruptive events. We work closely with both State and County emergency management to build and strengthen the public-volunteer partnership for disaster relief and planning.
The membership of Delaware VOAD consists of both locally based organizations and local representatives of National organizations. Our mission is to strengthen the capabilities of organizations working together in our State/Territory to respond to communities affected by disaster. Delaware VOAD member organizations cover a broad range of missions and technical expertise, and adhere to the 4 Cs: Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration.
We strive to enhance the everyday missions of our member organizations so that they are better prepared for natural disasters and other disruptive events. We do this by helping our members identify their assets and connecting them in meaningful ways. We foster relationships and connect member response networks with statewide and national resources. To put it simply, we are all about building relationships during blue skies for more effective response and recovery operations when gray skies arrive. It is the essence of what we do.
Delaware Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (DEVOAD) is a 501(c)3, non-profit and an affiliate of National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD). National VOAD, an association of organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters, provides a forum promoting cooperation, communication, coordination and collaboration; and fosters more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster.
